Pikes Peak Justice and Peace Commission’s Youth Activist Training kicks off July 7

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Pikes Peak Justice and Peace Commission is hosting the annual 2025 Youth Activist Training at various locations in downtown Colorado Springs during the second week of July.

Now in its fourth year, the training aims to provide youth activists with the tools, support, and understanding of how to overcome challenges, develop leadership skills, and actively shape their future communities. Youth Activist Training Coach Marzia Sadat joined the FOX21 News Morning Crew to talk more about the training and what attendees can expect.

The five-day program kicks off on July 7, with the first day — the most important — diving into establishing the Youth Activist Training community. Some other themes that will be covered on the first day include peace through music, self-exploration, learning about yourself, who you are, and how activism fits into everyday lives.

Other themes that those who attend will experience during the program include:

Activist well-being, mental health, and feeling connected, and art through poetry

Activism at a local level – local government

Art and activism

At the end of the program, activists will put it all together and present on what they learned and the change they want to make in the community.

“It’s a great week for our youth,” said Sadat. She also added that their main focus is mental health, building community, and how to communicate effectively and respectfully.

The training takes place from July 7 through July 11 from 9 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. Individuals can sign up online.

The deadline to sign up is June 30. Ages 13-17 are welcome.
