Police arrest Colorado Springs 14-year-old in deadly Aurora shooting

DENVER (KDVR) — Police have arrested a 14-year-old suspect in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred on June 1, according to the Aurora Police Department.

The suspect is from Colorado Springs and was arrested in El Paso County on Wednesday. He faces charges, including:

First-degree homicide

Attempted homicide, 10 counts

Possession of a handgun by a juvenile, two counts

Police said the shooting occurred on Hoffman Boulevard around 12:30 a.m. and left a 15-year-old girl dead and a 20-year-old woman with serious injuries.

The incident occurred near the Aurora Fire Rescue Station 2, and firefighters were the first to respond to the victims after returning from another call for service.

Aurora police arrived shortly after.

The 15-year-old was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and died shortly after arriving. The 20-year-old had her injuries treated and was expected to survive.

APD later learned that another 15-year-old girl was grazed in the incident, but she and her family declined medical assistance.

The suspect is being held in the El Paso County Jail but will transfer to the Arapahoe County Jail to face charges in Arapahoe Juvenile Court.

The suspect and the 15-year-old victim will not be identified due to their ages.
