(PUEBLO, Colo.) — A suspect has been arrested after an attempted armed robbery in Pueblo earlier this week, where a bystander intervened before the man ran off.
According to the Pueblo Police Department (PPD), on Wednesday, Aug. 13, just before 8:15 a.m., officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 800 block of Desert Flower Boulevard in the University Park neighborhood. Police learned that the victim was approached by the suspect, who was dressed in black and wearing a mask, and demanded her keys and purse.
When the victim tried to resist, a bystander intervened before the suspect pulled out a handgun and ran away. Officers said the victim was able to take a photo of the suspect before he escaped, and officers were able to track him down just up the road near Blueflax Drive and Bluestem Boulevard, though the suspect appeared to have altered his appearance.
During questioning, police found a bag that contained the gun and clothing used during the attempted robbery.
PPD said the suspect was identified as 23-year-old Ryan Childers-Pierce, who was taken into custody without incident on multiple charges, including Fugitive of Justice, Aggravated Robbery – Possession of a Real/Simulated Weapon, Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender, Menacing with a Deadly Weapon, and Violation of a Protection Order – Alcohol.
According to police, the suspect’s bond is set at $50,200.
