Pueblo breaks all-time record

(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — November has come and gone and it leaves the region with some pretty impressive climate numbers for the record book. The biggest contributing factor to such an active November was by far the multi-day snowstorm that occurred near the beginning of the month.

The impressive snowstorm would end up breaking an all-time record for Pueblo. The record broken was for the most precipitation ever in the month of November. Pueblo observed a total of 2.51 inches of precipitation which was 2.04 above normal. The previous November precipitation record for Pueblo was 2.48 inches set back in 1991.

Also of note, Pueblo saw 46% of its annual snowfall with contributions from the storm in just a single month. Snowfall for the month was 9.0 inches above normal with a total of 13.1 inches for November.

Colorado Springs also saw some impressive snow numbers. The Springs recorded 21.6 inches of snow for the month which was 17.2 inches above normal. For precipitation, the area observed a total of 1.78 inches putting the month at the 5th wettest November of all time. The multi-day snowstorm would contribute to 80% of Colorado Springs’ annual snowfall in just a single month.

Other areas of Southern Colorado also reported significant precipitation records. Thanks to the boost of moisture in November, Alamosa is now experiencing its second all-time wettest year on record. The area observed 0.71 inches of precipitation for the month of November helping bring those totals up. Alamosa will break the yearly precipitation record if the area manages to record another 0.33 inches of precipitation by the end of the year.

No major snow storms are anywhere in the forecast any time soon. In fact, the FOX21 Storm Team is tracking a relatively calm week as we head into the beginning of December.
