Pueblo Coroner identifies Lake Pueblo drowning victim

(PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo.) — The Pueblo County Coroner has identified the person who died at Lake Pueblo State Park on Thursday, June 19.

According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), just after 7 p.m. on Thursday, witnesses reported a man without a life jacket had flipped from an inflatable tube into the water and gone under the surface between 30 to 60 yards from shore in the south fishing area.

CPW boat patrol crews were alerted shortly after, and a search was initiated using sonar and an underwater drone. At around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, June 20, the Marine Evidence Recovery Team recovered the victim, identified by the Pueblo County Coroner as 22-year-old Victory Chinwendu Osuji of Richmond, Texas.

This is the fourth water-related death at Lake Pueblo State Park in 2025.
