(COLORADO SPRINGS) — UCHealth tells FOX21 News that Parkview Home Care will end operations effective Aug. 1, but that the impacted employees and patients will be given assistance.
The short-term health program started in 1981 as what was then called Parkview Episcopal Hospital. Parkview Home Care was the only hospital-based home care service at UCHealth, which partnered with Parkview in 2023. UCHealth said the closure is due to declining patient numbers and rising costs.
Patient referrals to Parkview Home Care ended on June 2, and UCHealth said it expects all patients will complete home care before the service closes. Any remaining patients will be placed with other home care agencies in the community. UCHealth will also assist the 22 affected employees in finding new jobs either with UCHealth or elsewhere.
According to UCHealth, going forward, UCHealth Parkview Medical Center and Parkview Pueblo West Hospital will continue to connect patients to home care services through UCHealth’s partner agencies throughout the community.
