(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The 10th Judicial District Attorney’s Office (DA’s Office) said on Oct. 9, 2025, a man was found guilty of charges related to a shooting that happened in July 2024.
On July 7, 2024, a father and his two children were looking for the children’s stolen bike when they spotted what they believed was the bike in front of a residence at the Casa del Sol apartment complex on Constitution Road.
According to the Pueblo Police Department at the time, the father tried to confront those living in the home. After realizing it was not the daughter’s bicycle, the DA’s Office said they began to drive away. That is when the occupant of the apartment, 31-year-old Michael Santistevan, shot at the vehicle multiple times, hitting one of the children, a 10-year-old girl, in the back.
The girl was taken to the hospital and later released.
On Oct. 9, Santistevan was found guilty of two counts of first degree assault and four counts of attempted first degree assault. A separate jury trial was held on Oct. 14 for habitual offender modifiers. Santistevan was found guilty on all counts as a habitual offender on Oct. 16. He is scheduled for sentencing on Dec. 22, 2025, at 2 p.m.
