Pueblo Municipal Court hosting Fine Reduction and Resource Fair

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The City of Pueblo Municipal Court is hosting a Fines and Fees Reduction Day and Resource Fair on Saturday, Feb. 10.

The fair is being held with the Courts Addressing Fines and Fees (CAFFE) Initiative. CAFFE is a national program sponsored by the National League of Cities. The City of Pueblo said the program is a way to offer community service and financial counseling for defendants to work off their fines.

“The City of Pueblo has been working with the National League of Cities and doing CAFFE training for the past year,” said Municipal Judge Carla Sikes. “Now we’re able to assist the community in a less punitive and fee-focused approach, so we can provide opportunities for community services, financial literacy, and providing other ways to assist people with a more support-focused outcome.”

The Fine Reduction Day and Resource Fair will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fair takes place at the Municipal Justice Center at 200 South Main Street.

The fair allows defendants to:

Sign up for Pueblo’s Financial Empowerment Center’s one-on-one financial literacy

Get court fines or fees reduced

learn more about community service to pay off fines and reduce the cost

Individuals can also speak with someone specifically about their case and learn more about other resources available

“We’re looking forward to assisting the public with the opportunity to address their fines and fees while providing resources in the community,” said Judge Sikes.
