Sheriff’s Office awarded for fundraising efforts

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) was awarded for its fundraising efforts for Special Olympics Colorado.

According to EPSO, during the State Kickoff Conference on Friday, Jan. 26, Special Olympics Colorado presented the award for the Highest Fundraising Agency of 2023 to Sheriff Joe Roybal and EPSO. Deputy Keenan Dukes was also awarded the State Director’s Individual Award, for his work for EPSO fundraising and awareness efforts for Special Olympics Colorado.

Special Olympics Colorado said EPSO raised around $50,000 in 2023, such as $30,000 through the “No Shave” event, and another $20,000 through other events such as the Polar Plunge, Tip A Cop, and Torch Runs.

“On behalf of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, it was an honor to be recognized and accept this prestigious award, Highest Fundraising Agency of 2023,” said Sheriff Joe Roybal. “It is no secret members of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, professional and sworn, are extremely generous, and give of their time and money for the greater good of our community. Whether it be the Polar Plunge, the Torch Run, Tip A Cop, or our ‘No Shave’ program, their service transcends the duties of a member of our Office.
