Pueblo to host first Steel City Arkansas River Festival

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — Pueblo’s Steel City Arkansas River Festival (SCARF) will be taking place all day on Saturday, July 26.

Kicking off at 10 a.m., multiple events are planned throughout the day at the Nature Wildlife Discovery Center, the new WaterWorks Park, and the kayak course near Pillars Park at the Arkansas River Levee. Two of those events are competitive, including the Build Your Own Boat Race and the Freestyle River Surf Competition.

“We’re excited to welcome community members, visitors, and spectators to this inaugural SCARF event,” said Outdoor Recreation Coordinator Lindsay Martin. “Pueblo is full of amazing water amenities from the newly constructed WaterWorks Park, the Nature and Wildlife Discovery Center, the Kayak Park at the Arkansas River Levee, and more.”

Registration for multiple events is required and can be found in the link listed.

Other events include a Paddle and Bike Parade and the Trailgate, which will feature live music, food trucks, and hands-on demonstrations such as fly fishing, disc golf, and skateboarding. The Trailgate will take place from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The last event of the night, the Rubber Duck Race, begins at 6 p.m. at Wildhorse Creek Bridge.

“This event is open to all ages and skills levels whether that is through participation or as a spectator, we hope to see you Saturday, July 26,” said Martin.
