Pueblo West community pool will remain closed for summer

(PUEBLO WEST, Colo.) — The Pueblo West community pool will remain closed for the summer due to a “significant mechanical failure.”

According to the Pueblo West Metropolitan District (Metro), a “critical line failure” has resulted in dirt, rocks, and air entering the pool’s system. Pueblo West Metro said this has caused extensive damage to the pool’s mechanical equipment, rendering it inoperable for the foreseeable future.

Repair efforts are underway, but the Metro District said the complexity and scope of of the issue means the pool cannot be safely reopened this swim season.

“We understand how important the pool is to our residents, especially during the summer months,” said Christian Heyn, District Manager. “We are committed to transparency and doing everything we can to provide alternative recreational options while we work toward a long-term solution.”

To help fill the gap, the Metro District said it has extended the operating hours of the Splash Park at Civic Center Park to seven days a week, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Metro District said it will continue to provide updates as repair timelines become clearer, and thanks the community for their patience.
