Regional marching band competition held at Fountain-Fort Carson

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The Colorado Bandmasters Association hosted its Southern Region State Qualifying marching festival on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at Fountain-Fort Carson High School.

High school bands traveled from all corners of Southern Colorado to perform, including Rye, Woodland Park, Pueblo, La junta, Colorado Springs, and more. Wednesday’s competition will help determine who makes it to the state championship on Oct. 25 at the Air Force Academy’s Falcon Stadium.

Students and instructors both say they’re ready to prove they’ve got what it takes.

“This is something that we’re super passionate about, something that we really love doing,” said Sydney Brown, Assistant Band Director at Fountain-Fort Carson High School. “I think everyone is just super excited to be able to show how much work we’ve been putting in together and hopefully just entertain the audience a little bit.”

The competition goes until 9 p.m. on Wednesday. FOX21 News will follow along with the competition and keep you informed of our local competitors as they advance.
