(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The rider of a minibike who was killed in a crash in northern Colorado Springs on Sunday, June 15, has been identified by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), on June 15, just before 7 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of Dublin and North Union Boulevards about a serious injury crash.
Initial reports to police indicated the driver of a minibike was operating on the roadway heading south on Union Blvd. at Dublin and collided with a vehicle heading east on Dublin Blvd. Before police arrived, the rider of the minibike was later identified as a 16-year-old boy, who was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. On Friday, June 20, the teen succumbed to their injuries.
CSPD said its investigation showed three people were riding minibikes on Union Boulevard. As they approached the intersection, one of the minibikes entered the intersection against a red light, colliding with a car that was traveling east through the intersection.
CSPD said this is the 18th traffic fatality in 2025, as this time last year there were 30 fatalities.
