Second phase of Academy construction project planned

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Colorado Springs Utilities (Springs Utilities) announced that it will commence phase two of the Academy Corridor Water Valve Replacement Project in April.

The $6.7 million project’s goal is to enhance water service reliability by installing multiple isolation valves on large water mains near the North Academy Boulevard and Austin Bluffs Parkway intersection. These valves will help prevent future unplanned water outages, such as the significant outage that happened in March of 2021.

Springs Utilities will host an open house featuring information booths and experts, who will share important information such as traffic impacts and water disruptions. The event will be held at Colorado Springs City Hub at 4304 Austin Bluffs Pkwy on Thursday, March 21 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
