(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A shelter-in-place order is in effect near an apartment complex west of Memorial Park, and a heavy police presence is in the area.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), a call was received around 7:40 p.m. on Thursday, July 25 reporting a shooting at the Homewood Point Apartments at the corner of South Institute Street and Pikes Peak Avenue. Officers responded and one person was taken to the hospital with injuries, though it is unclear if the injuries were caused by gunshots.
A Peak Alert was sent out at 8 p.m. warning neighbors in the area to stay indoors and lock their doors and windows. The Peak Alert stated that there was a heavy police presence due to the search for a potential wanted suspect.

The shelter-in-place is in effect for a one-block radius around Homewood Point Apartments. Those in the radius should stay indoors, and the surrounding community is asked to avoid the area.
