(CHAFFEE COUNTY, Colo.) — The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect who was wanted on multiple felony warrants out of Oklahoma. The warrants were for four counts of the alleged rape of minors, according to the sheriff’s office.
On Friday, Feb. 7, deputies received a call from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) concerning a Mexico resident, identified as 23-year-old Juan Jose Avila Hernandez, who was believed to be working somewhere in the Chaffee County area.

The sheriff’s office was able to locate Hernandez following tips provided by ICE, and he was arrested without incident on Friday in Buena Vista.
“Our deputies did a great job locating Hernandez so quickly and assuring he could not harm anyone in our community,” said Chaffee County Sheriff Andy Rohrich. “Hernandez was listed as a sexually violent predator. As stated before, we will assist ICE when they are searching for undocumented immigrants that are wanted for violations of law other than just their legal status of being in the United States.”
Hernandez was taken to the Chaffee County Detention Facility, where he was booked into jail on the warrant. He was released to ICE on Friday.
