The trip up from the base of Pikes Peak to the summit is a 19-mile drive. AMR said the trip can present various challenges including rapid drops in temperature, thunderstorms, and hairpin turns with no guard rails.

The hiker was flown out by the Cañon Helitack.

“Thanks to our amazing search and rescue team for their excellent work on a tough trail carry, followed by an additional six-mile hike down the peak to our team vehicles,” El Paso County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook thanking the rescue team, AMR and Cañon Helitack.
