Snow plows all hands on deck, police on cold reporting

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The City of Colorado Springs reported that there is a full call out for snow plows across the area, as roadways are icy in many areas, and dropping temperatures will bring more hazardous driving conditions on Monday, Dec. 9.

According to the city, crews are treating and plowing the roads to prevent ice from forming, however, drivers are strongly advised to reduce speeds and allow extra space between vehicles in front of them.

In the evening, snow plows will continue to be all hands on deck as they focus on secondary roads.

The Mountain Metropolitan Transit (MMT) is suspending bus service at 2 p.m. and will evaluate the situation later in the day to determine if evening service can be safely resumed.

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) is on cold accident reporting and the City of Fountain is on accident alert status. If anyone is involved in an accident, all drivers are licensed and all vehicles involved are registered, there are no injuries or fatalities, and no drugs or alcohol are involved, drivers are asked to exchange information and report the accident within 72 hours.
