Colorado State Patrol sending DUI team to Pueblo

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) said between Friday, Dec. 13 through Sunday, Dec. 15 there will be an increase in patrols focused on impaired driving.

According to CSP, Pueblo County has experienced 78 fatality crashes and 231 crashes where occupants have gotten serious injuries since 2020. CSP said most of these crashes happened on Friday and Saturday evenings.

CSP said the leading cause of these crashes were lane violations involving distracted driving and impaired driving. The special operation over the weekend is dedicated to stopping impaired driving “in its tracks” to save lives.

CSP is asking the public to report any suspected impaired drivers. If you encounter an impaired driver, get out of the way, pull over then contact CSP by calling *277, 911, or (719) 589-5807. CSP said to be prepared to provide the vehicle description, license plate number, location and direction of travel, driver description, and driving behavior demonstrated.
