“Steph’s Cherry Pie” wins Manitou Springs Pie Contest

(MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — On Monday, July 1 the community in Manitou Springs came together around a common love of baking (and eating) pie, to name “Steph’s Cherry Pie” the 1st Place winner of the town’s Annual Ice Cream Social & Pie Baking Contest. The Little London Winds were also present, playing patriotic songs to accompany the festivities.

In the pie baking contest, there was an Adult Division and a Kids Division, with five winners overall. Stephanie Hockersmith’s “Steph’s Cherry Pie” won 1st Place in the Adult Division, followed by Rob Morlan’s Apple Cranberry Jalapeno Pie, which won 2nd. Renee Mendieta’s “Blueberry Bombshell” took third.

Manitou’s young bakers also showed incredible talent and enthusiasm. In the Kids Division, 1st Place went to James De Santis’s “Crazy Crumbly Caramely Appley Pie” and 2nd Place was given to Ariana Rose Harrison’s Chocolate Covered Strawberry Delight.

“What a beautiful summer evening, watching friends and neighbors come together for a true community celebration!” said Jenna Gallas, Event Coordinator for Visit Manitou Springs, the organizer of the Ice Cream Social and Pie Baking Contest. “Pie and ice cream make for the cherry on top!”
