(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — A suspect, who was arrested after allegedly shooting at another car on I-25 and South Academy, has been identified as 40-year-old Nelson Boyer, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO).
On Friday, June 14 EPSO released more about the charges, including Attempted Murder, that Boyer now faces. He also faces charges of First-Degree Assault, Illegal Discharge of a Firearm, and Reckless Endangerment for the shooting on Thursday, June 13.
Boyer was taken into custody at 5:20 p.m. on Thursday after detectives were able to identify Boyer and determine his location at a residence on Chadwick Drive in the Stratmoor Valley neighborhood, near the original scene.
According to EPSO, just after 11:20 a.m. on Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a shooting in the area of South Academy and I-25 and that a motorcyclist had allegedly shot at another car in the area.
Soon after, the Sheriff’s Office received another call from the victim at a home in the Security-Widefield area of unincorporated El Paso County. When deputies arrived they rendered medical aid to the victim, who had a single, non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
The victim was later taken to the hospital and is stable. No other members of the community or deputies were harmed, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
