(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Monday, Jan. 22 a Colorado Springs teacher was surprised with $15,000 in recognition for her work in the community.
Rebecca McDonald, a teacher at Oak Creek Elementary School, was called to a special assembly and then surprised with the recognition as the fourth and final recipient of the 2023 ENT Community Advocate Award.
McDonald was recognized for her commitment to and support of children with special needs.
“I’ve never won anything. I’ve never got anything more than $5 on a scratcher. This is crazy,” said McDonald.
McDonald plans to do something for the school’s special education program with the money.
