Teller County gains access to whole blood program

(TELLER COUNTY, Colo.) — On Monday, June 23, UCHealth announced that Teller County now has access to the lifesaving whole blood program, thanks to a partnership between UCHealth and Ute Pass Regional Health Service District (UPRHSD).

This program allows paramedics to provide blood transfusions to patients who have sustained excessive blood loss before they get to the hospital.

The program, which launched on June 12, equips paramedics with a lifesaving blood supply, with a weekly transfer of blood from the lab at Pikes Peak Regional Hospital to the UPRHSD paramedics.
