(TELLER COUNTY, Colo.) — Sheriff Jason Mikesell of the Teller County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) announced the recent arrests of four suspects that its office is now investigating with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“We are dealing with foreign nationals and criminal illegal aliens within our county,” Sheriff Mikesell said during a press conference held on Friday morning, Jan. 24. “It’s not just a Denver issue, it’s not just an Aurora issue… it’s an issue for every small community in America right now.”
During the press conference, Sheriff Mikesell detailed the recent arrests in Teller County as the following:
Jorge Alexander Cardona, Conspiracy to Commit Forgery and Forgery
Jaidy Andreina Rondo-Paez, Attempt to Commit Forgery and Forgery
Gregori Gonzalez-Hernandez, FTA warrants for Larceny and No Insurance and Registration on Vehicles out of Aurora and Lakewood
FOX21 News is working to clarify the charges of the fourth individual who was arrested and will update our coverage accordingly.
“Those four people, one from Columbia and three different people from Venezuela, were all arrested on charges in Teller County and we are working with ICE on those same individuals and they have taken several into custody,” Sheriff Mikesell said.

The Sheriff added that both Cardona and Rondo-Paez were arrested on charges related to titles that were allegedly forged and brought into the Clerk’s Office.
“And, through the very quick and smart thinking of our County Clerk and Recorder, Stephanie Kees, she was able to identify that they were actually forged,” he added. “Those forgeries are on Colorado state documents… It’s an illegal offense to forge something in Colorado, so what I’m trying to tell you is that, when you commit a crime in our county, because of our programs and our commitment to working with ICE, we are going to locate you.”
The Sheriff’s Office also spoke about a person of interest that they are looking for in connection to a Teller County homicide. Information on the person of interest is below:
Louis Eduardo Sanchez Chavez, wanted as a person of interest in connection with a suspicious death on March 2, 2023, in Teller County.
“This gentleman is a criminal illegal alien also in the United States,” said Sheriff Mikesell. “In the past, without being able to work with ICE, this is a person we would not be able to locate. Because we have local charges, we do our own criminal investigations and we need to locate this person.”
Sheriff Mikesell said that more arrests are on the way. “We are not doing raids… This is part of an extension of our 287(g) program, which, by the way, is still well and good in this county.”
