(COLORADO SPRINGS) — It’s been nearly 40 years since a seven-month-old boy was abducted from his home in Colorado Springs and the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) continues to search for answers.
It was on July 15, 1986, 37 years ago, that Christopher Abeyta was taken from his crib at the family’s home on Ashwood Circle, near Quail Lake on the southwest part of town.
Christopher’s parents, Gil and Bernise Abeyta, have since passed away, and now Christopher’s siblings have taken up the search.
In 2018, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children released an age progression photo of Christopher using family photos and technology to create a photo of what Christopher might look like as an adult.

In 2018, CSPD tested three DNA samples from people who believed they might be the missing boy, but in February 2019, police said they received the results and none were found to match.
The circumstances surrounding Christopher’s disappearance are considered suspicious. If you have any information, you are asked to call the police at (719) 444-7000. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (719) 634-7867 or 1-(800) 222-8477.
