(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Thursday, Sept. 12 the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) and the Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management (PPROEM) held a town hall preparing those living in the Broadmoor Bluffs neighborhood for an evacuation exercise being held near the end of September.
“It gives the community an understanding of what it feels like to actually get into a car and evacuate,” said PPROEM Executive Director Andrew Notbohm.
Officials urge people to sign up for Peak Alerts, a warning system that public safety officials use to notify people in El Paso County of emergencies that pose a threat to life or safety.
The exercise is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
