Traffic stop reveals drugs, driver wanted by police

(FREMONT COUNTY, Colo.) — The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) said deputies are searching for a man who is wanted for several charges after a broken tail light revealed various drugs in the car.

According to FCSO, on June 11 at around 12:45 a.m., a deputy made a traffic stop for a tail lamp violation on County Road 123 near mile marker 9 in Penrose. The driver allegedly gave false information to the deputy and drug paraphernalia was seen in plain sight. The driver refused to leave the vehicle when asked and ran from deputies.

After a short pursuit of the vehicle, the driver ran into a forested area and was not located by deputies after a search, according to FCSO. The driver was identified as 36-year-old Robert J. Pierce of Henderson, Colorado based on items in the vehicle.

Deputies also found various items in the vehicle:

9mm handgun

Loaded highpoint 9mm magazine

200 grams of methamphetamine that was laced with fentanyl

27 grams of cocaine

25 grams of black tar heroin

1044 Fentanyl pills

2 pounds of marijuana

HGH and Steroids

FCSO said two no-bond warrants have been issued for Pierce and if you see Pierce you are asked to call 911 immediately and not approach him.
