(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Saturday, May 31, The Resource Exchange (TRE) in Colorado Springs hosted its 4th Annual Family Fun Day–an event designed to connect families of children with disabilities.
The day highlighted the organization’s respite program, which gives parents a much-deserved break by offering care for their children with special needs. It allows families time to run errands, enjoy a date night, or simply rest and recharge. 21 families attended the event, where they had the chance to connect with local community organizations and explore helpful resources.
It was more than just informative, the day offered a chance to relax, soak up some sunshine, and have some fun.
“We do everything from a blow-up obstacle course, to a face painter, to a bubble station,” said Sarah Nolan, Volunteer and Respite Programs Manager for TRE. “We just have a ton of different stations for them to go around to, so that way they are not waiting, because we do know that children with special needs, it’s hard to wait, so we like to have a lot of options.”
