(U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo.) — The U.S. Air Force Academy will be kicking off the academic year with its annual Acceptance Day parade on Aug. 7 at 9 a.m. on Stillman Field.
The Acceptance Day parade marks the Class of 2028’s acceptance into the Cadet Wing and their transition from basic cadets without tank insignia, to fourth-class cadets, receiving their first shoulder board rank insignia in celebration with their newly assigned squadrons.
This is the first opportunity families have to briefly visit their cadets since In-Processing Day in late June.
The public is invited to attend, food trucks are scheduled to be onsite. Those planning to attend the parade should enter the Academy’s North Gate at Exit 156 off I-25, that specific gate opens at 5:30 a.m. Visitors require a U.S. government-issued ID or a passport.
Attendees should expect traffic to be heavy and visitors are encouraged to arrive early. Event staff will provide directions to visitors with placards who require accessible parking and transport from their vehicle to the parade field and back. Random vehicle inspections should be anticipated.
Visitors are welcome to bring food. The only liquids allowed are sealed water bottles, medicine, and baby formula. Empty containers are allowed and water is available on site.
