(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A press conference is expected at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) on Friday afternoon, Feb. 16 after two people were found dead inside a dorm room.
According to Chris Valentine, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Marketing and Communications for UCCS, the press conference will take place at 2 p.m., with law enforcement, university staff and local leaders expected to be in attendance.
According to Valentine, Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade, Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) Chief Adrian Vasquez, and UCCS Chancellor Jennifer Sobanet, are among those expected to give statements.
According to CSPD, on Friday, UCCS Police responded to a dorm room just after 6:05 a.m. and found two people dead, each with at least one gunshot wound.
CSPD’s Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation, and according to Ira Cronin, Public Relations Manager for CSPD, this is being investigated as an isolated incident. “We don’t believe at this point that there is an ongoing threat to the community,” said Cronin.
