(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The suspect arrested in connection to a double homicide that happened Friday morning, Feb. 16 at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS), will be back in court on Friday, Feb. 23 for a first appearance hearing at 8:30 a.m.
On Tuesday, Feb. 20, during an advisement hearing, the judge increased 25-year-old Nicholas Jordan’s bond to $5 million cash-only, which will be readdressed when Jordan’s back in court. A decision to release the probable cause affidavit will also be made by the Judge during Friday’s hearing.
CSPD obtained an arrest warrant for Jordan on Friday, Feb. 16 on two counts of First Degree Murder in the deaths of 24-year-old Samuel Knopp and 26-year-old Celie Montgomery. On Monday morning, Feb. 19, officers with the Tactical Enforcement Unit arrested Jordan without incident in Colorado Springs.
According to Fox News, UCCS said Jordan was enrolled at the school at the time of the shooting, and according to CSPD, he was a roommate of one of the victims.
On Monday, CSPD also reiterated that this was an isolated incident between people who knew one another and was not a random attack on the university or any of its other students.
FOX21 News will be following Friday’s hearing and will update this article once we know more.
