(AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo.) — The U.S. Air Force Academy announced that the North Gate will temporarily close between Monday, July 15, through Friday, August 2, to all vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians for the construction of a roundabout. All Academy access during this time will be through the South Gate.
The new roundabout will improve traffic flow onto the Academy, to Hotel Polaris, which opens in the fall, and to the Hosmer Visitor Center, opening in December of 2025. Construction is scheduled to be finished before the fall academic semester and sports season.
True North Commons is a 57-acre development located on Academy property just outside the security checkpoint of the Academy’s north gate. It includes the 32,000-square-foot Hosmer Visitor Center and Hotel Polaris, a publicly accessible 375-room hotel, conference center, and office space.
The Academy’s Pine Drive will remain closed to all vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians through July 27 due to repaving operations. This affects access to Pine Valley, including Pine Valley Housing, the equestrian center, and Air Academy High School
