VFW Post 6461 fair helps veterans find resources

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Monday, Sept. 2, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6461 hosted its annual veteran resource fair in Fountain.

The resource fair on Monday provided free haircuts, helped veterans enroll in benefits, apply for canine service companions, and more.

The event also held a 5K and the money raised during the event went to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.

“We all know the American Legion’s and the VFW and the brick and mortar houses that the older generation of veterans understands. But when you look at today’s veteran environment, a lot of it is online. And if you don’t know where to look, you don’t know about them. So we try to bring it all into one place where people can kind of figure out what’s out there,” said Aarron Himes VFW 6461 Post Commander.

If you or a loved one need services like those offered at the resource fair you can learn more at the VFW Post 6461’s website.
