Victim identified from Sept. 6 shooting

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has released the identity of the victim of an overnight shooting that took place near Mitchell High School on Sept. 6.

Originally, CSPD officers responded to a call about gunshots fired in the 1200 Block of Potter Drive, near the intersection of Galley and South Academy Boulevard, around 11 p.m. on Sept. 6. Upon arrival, CSPD found a man dead from an apparent gunshot wound, and another with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound as well.

The deceased has now been identified as 29-year-old Ismael Rivera-Mora by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office. The coroner’s office has yet to determine a cause of death, CSPD reports that this is being investigated as a homicide.
