(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The El Paso County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman who was shot and killed earlier this week at an apartment complex in west Colorado Springs as 35-year-old Lisa West, and the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has released the identity of her alleged killer.
According to CSPD, on Tuesday, May 13, officers were called to the 1000 block of Fontmore Drive near West Fontanero and North 30th Streets about a possible burglary in progress. When police arrived, they found West dead from at least one gunshot wound.
During CSPD’s investigation, they identified a suspect as 36-year-old Kevin Wells, as well as a suspect vehicle, which was shared with regional law enforcement agencies. Later on Tuesday, Colorado State Patrol located the vehicle and Wells, and he was taken into custody.

CSPD said this is the 15th homicide in 2025 in Colorado Springs. At this time in 2024, there were 15 homicides.
