(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) is planning to host a media briefing at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 11 to give an update on the fire burning near Marksheffel and Drennan Roads.

On Sunday, March 10 at around 4:30 p.m., CSFD responded to four grass fires in the area, and about three hours later, around 7:15 p.m., crews established a perimeter around the fire.

The fire has burned more than 500 acres and one abandoned building was destroyed, according to Initial estimates. CSFD also asked for additional help from Ellicott and Cheyenne Mountain fire crews.
