(MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — A water main break in Manitou Springs has rendered part of Manitou Avenue closed.

The break along Manitou Avenue between Pawnee Avenue and Canon Avenue was reported to the El Paso County Dispatch line at around 1:30 a.m. The break had caused an urgent water service disruption on Manitou Avenue and crews were on scene assessing the initial impacts.

At the moment, crews remain on-site and are assessing the damage and working on repairs. There is no estimated time for completion, but the road is expected to remain closed for the day due to weather conditions contributing to the situation.

Drivers and pedestrians are asked to use caution in the area and follow detour signs, and instructions from flaggers. To navigate around the affected areas, the City has asked drivers to use Prospect Place, Navajo Avenue, and Lovers Lane.
