(COLORADO SPRINGS) — As part of the 1,000 Neighborhood Gatherings initiative, the Westside Community Center (WCC) is holding a block party on Saturday, June 15 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

They are calling it a “Saleabration” and it will feature a community-wide yard sale, swap meet, and recycling pick-up. There will also be food trucks and live music.

The Westside Community Center is a city-run facility that works to build stronger, more connected neighborhoods. The public-private partnership works with people in the community, integrating feedback, while allowing for City staffing and funding.

The 1,000 Neighborhood Gatherings initiative was put in place by city leaders to help address mental health and isolation in our town by encouraging connection through neighborhood block parties and other community events.

If your neighborhood is planning a gathering, register it online and host it between May 18 and Sept. 28, and it will count toward the goal of 1,000 gatherings.
