(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Pi Day takes place on Thursday, March 14 which represents the first three digits of Pi or 3.14, and to celebrate the mathematical constant of a circle many places are offering deals on various pies.
3.14 Pi Bar located at 5152 Centennial Boulevard near Garden of the Gods Road is offering deals on its mini pies a day early to get ahead of a storm forecasted for Thursday. On Wednesday, March 13, 3.14 Pi Bar is offering its mini pies for $3.14. Village Inn is also offering a free slice of pie with the purchase of an entree and drink on Thursday.
National Day Calendar says the earliest known celebration of Pi Day was in 1988 when Larry Shaw organized the celebration at the San Francisco Exploratorium. The National Day Calendar said pie is usually round like a circle which Pi is used for calculations in circular math, so the day is a great excuse to eat some pie.
