Woman shot during domestic violence incident

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said on Monday, May 26, a woman was taken to the hospital for a gunshot wound then later arrested for domestic violence-related charges.

According to CSPD, on Monday at around 3 a.m., officers were called to the hospital for a report of a woman with a gunshot wound. Police learned there was a disturbance between a man and a woman, which later involved a firearm.

Detectives from the Domestic Violence/Adult Sexual Unit learned the firearm went off during the argument, and the woman got a non-life-threatening gunshot wound while the man got other non-life-threatening injuries.

Through the investigation, detectives took the woman into custody for domestic violence-related second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and false imprisonment charges.
