(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) released the identity of a woman who was fatally hit while walking in the southbound lanes of traffic on I-25 near 13th Street on Saturday morning, Nov. 2.
According to PPD, officers were dispatched to the scene near the 13th St. onramp around 6:45 a.m. for a crash involving a pedestrian. The investigation indicated that a woman, identified as 44-year-old Rebecca Maes, was walking in the southbound lanes of traffic south of 13th St. when she was hit by a car and knocked down. She was then hit by a second car while in the roadway. Maes died of her injuries.
According to the PPD, southbound I-25 was closed at 13th St. during the investigation and cleanup and was reported to have reopened around 10:30 a.m.
