(COLORADO) — The El Paso County Clerk & Recorder’s Office said that Colorado is one of 18 states that allow marriages between first cousins.
On Tuesday, Oct. 21, the Clerk and Recorder’s Office posted on social media as part of its Setting the Record Straight Myth or Fact series.
The Oct. 21 post confirms that in Colorado, first cousins can marry.
Colorado is also one of 18 states that allow first cousins to marry. The Clerk and Recorder’s Office said that eight other states allow marriage between first cousins, but with certain restrictions, and there are eight states where marrying your first cousin is a criminal offense.
