YMCA 5K race series returns, registration now open

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region announced the dates for the festive YMCA 5K Races coming up in October, November, and December.

The race series consists of three races: The Creepy Crawl, The Turkey Trot, and The Jingle Jog. The series has been running for a decade and has over 6,000 participants annually. The races raise money to ensure all individuals and families in the Pikes Peak Region can access programs such as child care, swim lessons, and youth sports.

The races will be held on:

The Creepy Crawl will be held at the Santa Fe Trail in Palmer Lake on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The Turkey Trot will be held at the Briargate YMCA on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 28.

The Jingle Jog will be held at the Fountain/Fort Carson High School on Saturday, Dec. 14.

“The tradition of the YMCA 5K Race Series continues to grow every year as does the need for funds required to support families in the Pikes Peak Region,” said the YMCA. “From helping children with swim lessons and learning to be safe around water, attending summer camp, helping parents with much-needed childcare, or assisting aging adults with programs and services, the 5K races are cornerstone fundraising events in our region. I hope you’ll join this year in three great races for one great cause.”

Early Bird registration for all three races is still available online. Those who register for all three races before Oct. 26 will receive YMCA swag, including a Creepy Crawl, Turkey Trot, and Jingle Jog 5K shirt.

All three courses are stroller and dog-friendly, and each race has a free kids’ fun run. Groups are encouraged, and so are costumes.
