65-year-old woman identified as homicide victim

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has identified the victim of a homicide that occurred on Saturday, April 5.

At around 7:25 p.m. on Saturday, CSPD received a call for an urgent assist at a home in the 800 block of Yuma Street, near North Circle Drive and East Platte Avenue. Upon arrival, officers observed a woman, identified as 65-year-old Zonya Minor, was unconscious and not breathing. Medical personnel confirmed she was dead.

Officers also contacted a man in the home, who said he had been in a verbal and physical disturbance with Minor before she passed. The caller and companion, 66-year-old Garcia Dudley, was arrested, charged, and booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center. Detectives charged Dudley with Second Degree Murder.

While the Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, this is being investigated as a homicide. This was the 14th homicide in 2025 in Colorado Springs.
