71-year-old allegedly zip-tied, threatened during robbery

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A 71-year-old man was allegedly tied up with zip ties and threatened with a handgun during a robbery at his home on Thursday morning, Jan. 29.

At around 6:30 a.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to the 2100 block of Broadway Avenue, near Highway 24 to investigate a reported burglary in process. The reporting party, the 71-year-old man, told officers that two people entered his house and threatened him with a semi-automatic gun.

CSPD said the victim had his feet tied with zip ties and one of the suspects went up into the bedroom area of the residence and removed several items.

According to police, no injuries were reported.

The suspects were described as two between 5’6” and 5’9” tall. The men wore all-black clothing, black masks, ski goggles with clear lenses, and surgical gloves.

CSPD said this seems to be an isolated incident, and the investigation is still ongoing.
