Applications open for CSPD Chief’s Youth Advisory Council

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) is offering a unique opportunity for Colorado Springs high school students to discuss their thoughts and concerns directly with the Chief of Police.

The Chief’s Youth Advisory Council for the 2024/2025 school year will meet on the third Wednesday of every month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. CSPD said the meetings are based on open dialogue and allow Chief Adrian Vasquez to hear directly from teens across the city and how they view the role of CSPD in keeping the city safe.

Applications are open on Colorado Springs’ website, applications are open to all high school youth in the community who are enrolled in public school, charter school, online school, alternative school, home school, or private school. Students under the age of 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.

CSPD is offering an information meeting for interested students and parents/guardians on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Police Operations Center at 705 South Nevada Avenue.

Applications are due by Sept. 10 and students will be notified by Sept. 13 if they have been chosen for the council.
