Black Bear Pass closes due to car stuck on edge of the road

SAN MIGUEL COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) – Black Bear Pass is indefinitely closed due to a driver getting his car stuck, resulting in it teetering off the edge on one of the switchbacks.

According to the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office, a South Carolina man drove his Kia Telluride up the one-way road, despite being told not to do so by locals. The driver later got the car’s wheels off the side of the road, leaving it unstable.

The sheriff’s office stated that the stretch is not safe for cars to drive on.

The vehicle will need to be towed, and it is unknown when that can happen. Bridal Veil Road up to the Falls is also closed.
