(COLORADO SPRINGS) — An officer with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has been arrested for allegedly collecting information on someone for personal gain.
According to a press release sent by the police department on Friday, Aug. 16, Officer Levi Braun was arrested and charged with First Degree Official Misconduct. Officer Braun received a summons and was released.
CSPD said the investigation stemmed from a report that Officer Braun was “unlawfully obtaining information about an individual for personal gain.” Following an investigation, Officer Braun was arrested on Friday.
In addition to the criminal investigation, CSPD said it has opened an internal affairs investigation into this incident. Officer Braun has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the internal & criminal investigations.
“CSPD takes all claims of misconduct by our employees seriously and understands the importance of transparency and accountability with our community and the importance of holding our Officers to the highest standards,” CSPD said.
