CSFD: Gas line hit by lightning, ignites fire

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — CSFD said crews were able to stop the fire from spreading to nearby structures.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) responded on Monday, Aug. 19 to a gas line that had been struck by lightning, sparking a fire.

CSFD posted about the fire just after 5:30 p.m. on Monday, and said crews were responding to the gas line fire in the 4000 block of Shelley Avenue, near South Academy Boulevard and Airport Road.

CSFD said it was working with Colorado Springs Utilities to mitigate the fire.
