CSPD, HSPPR respond to dog attack in neighborhood

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that officers were dispatched for a call for urgent assistance due to a dog that had attacked multiple people on Saturday, Aug. 24.

According to CSPD, a request for assistance was received from the Colorado Springs Fire Department around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. When officers arrived at the location on Whip Trail, near North Carefree Circle and Oro Blanco Drive, they found a 150 lb. Great Pyrenees dog that was running loose. The dog had been chased around the neighborhood before it was cornered in a courtyard. Animal Law Enforcement officers from the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) responded and used a snare to subdue the dog and take it to the HSPPR facility.

The dog’s owner was contacted and HSPPR is doing an investigation into the incident. Two adults associated with the dog and its owner were injured during the incident, but none of the injuries were life-threatening.
